I must have mentioned it before, that one of my favourite books when i was young was that of " To Kill a mockingbird". I used to idolize Atticus Finch after reading the book, and decided that "to wear someone's shoes and walk around in it " was the motto i was going to TRY and live by. Of course, like anyone else, i can too be catty, selfish, and insensitive at times, and unlike atticus finch, who is prolly able to do that for even the man passing him on the streets, i usually only practise empathy on those i truly love and care.
Recently, however, cynism has hit me like a big yellow schoolbus. Through the actions of certain relatives and "friends", i am starting to disbelieve my own theory of "mankind are kind and compassionate by nature, and never actually want to hurt delibrately, but are usually forced by circumstances". I am,instead starting to think that Atticus Finch was a man living in the stone age, and if he did live today, he'll prolly be a victim of all scam schemes and made use of over and over, until he himself throws his hands up in cynicism.
I'm not actually exaggerating. I lived thru being made use of by my own grandparents, who claims to love and care for my brother, yet not even call to ask where his ashes are placed. I used to believe when my grandpa calls me to put money in his top-up card, its because he misses us and is finding an excuse to talk to us. I don't know anymore.
And an question with no answer...
What truly is love?
Why is the love that a parent have for their children so deep that it transcends life and death?
What differentiate this form of love from that of between a couple? Love in BGR?
Why is the love of parents so unconditional, so steadfast, and so deep?
People wake up in the middle of the night, and may fear that their significant other will one day stop loving them, yet, rarely do people wake up in the middle of the night and fear that their parents so loving them.
We can be bratty, rude, disgusting and uber ugly in front of my parents, and not worry they'll stop loving us, yet we can't do so in freindships, or other relationships?
what makes this love of parents, or that of siblings, for that matter, so unconditional?
can someone... tell me the answer if you do know?
Sleep, my peaceful angel.Worry no longer for those alive.Take a much needed rest now,for you've braved thru storm and rain.May your dreams be filled with love, that transcends beyond time and place.
